Follow these easy tricks! Don’t let the sun bring your hair down. Throughout the year we emphasize keeping our hair healthy and shiny by using many different products and remedies. By the time summer rolls around, our go-to tricks aren’t as reliable due to the dryer weather. The outer layer of what is considered healthy hair, contains a natural oil to keep it moist and shiny. When this layer is damaged, your hair can end up looking dull, unhealthy and dry. Some factors to keep in mind that contribute to dull hair are your use of harsh hair care products (be careful ladies!), bad quality conditioner, over exposure to sun (yes!), use of hair color products (bleach), age, stress, swimming pools and use of heating tools. In the warmer and more humid months, it’s essential to try and limit your use of hot hair tools. The combination of the hot tools and the sun will leave your hair brittle, dull and lifeless. Try to embrace the convenience of the warmer summer months, especially when vacationing in warmer climates. Allow your hair to air dry, which will provide natural beach waves which are trendy, sexy and feminine! Most of us are known to be drawn to conditioners, shampoos and shine serums that we see in advertisements and products that are recommended by our stylists. It’s important to realize that over a period of time, these products could potentially cause even more damage to your hair (chemicals!). In this blog we will discuss some very simple and natural remedies to make hair smooth and shiny. You will learn techniques that will ensure you don’t damage your hair this summer. Part of your styling routine may be to blow dry, curl, straighten or color your hair. Please consider the harm you may be causing to the health of your hair before overdoing it. The more you process your locks, whether it be to change your color or style the look of your hair, the more damage you would potentially cause. This includes the natural shine and overall softness to your hair. Take a few steps back on your regular routine (I know it sounds daunting) and try using styling tools every other day (rather than daily). Perhaps consider going to the salon for color treatments every three months (instead of every six to eight weeks). Your hair will love you for, look healthy and in return be easier to maintain as a result.
